Well, you need a strong heart to lift weight so run first. It is harder to lose fat then to gain muscle, so get the harder stuff out of the way first, so it’s smooth sailing from then on. For diet it’s simple, make a log of what you are eating, healthy food or junk food? I don’t know what you eat daily so I can’t get specific, but I can tell you it is important to get your 5 important food groups daily. Protein, carbs, vegies, sugar (from fruit and honey not that synthesize crap) and yes fat the good fat not the bad fat (can be obtain from nuts). Find out where you are at then start from there, do not go head on with the hard stuff as you will regret it.

If it was up to me I would run and go on a healthy diet to get to my desire weight for lifting, but it’s your choice. A word of caution, lifting weight first might lead to an unbalance body without proper cardio.

    1. First start by getting up earlier than usual. Around 5:30 AM to do some of you workouts. Getting up early shocks your metabolism because the body needs more energy to get going. Right? This will start your system on the road to weight loss. That early start with about 10 minutes of stretching. Have a cup of coffee to get the blood going also.

    2. Do all the sit-ups you can. Just do them. 15 or 20 whatever, we don’t have a lot of time to work with. Rest 1 minute repeat, do this for 6 sets. Already you are breathing hard and feel worn, because the body is working extra hard at being up earlier and then going right into exercise. If the early morning hour lets you get your cardio in, go ahead and do it. 30 minutes.

    3. Diet. Cut all current meal portions in half, just cut them in half, nothing fancy or complicated, CUT IN HALF! Cut out all bread products, all gravies, candies, chips, night snacks, etc. If you crave at night eat a banana, other fruit or best a non-fat yogurt. There are some tasty ones out there.

    4. In the evening do another 6 sets of sit-ups maxing out each set. Cardio again. The trick is to stay with getting up earlier. Yes it’s hard, that’s why it is so effective. Why do you think the Army gets up so early, it is intense training to the max.

I use to play football in college. My conditioning coach told me the best way to lose weight was to up my protein intake and decrease all excess calories especially from sugar, alcohol, even stuff like energy drinks that were full of sugar. I was able to lose weight and build muscle rather quickly. When I graduated I was not able to keep up my weight training and gained a lot of weight. But, my goal is to get back to my college physique, but I don’t want to do it the unhealthy way. I am following a program called Packing On the Muscle. I am looking forward to my results, if you want me to give you regular updates on my status I certainly will! Good Luck man, and hang in there!!!

While traveling in an elevator instead of just standing there and staring stupidly at the numbers going up or down, try raising your self onto your toes and then back on your feet again. Do this several times. Also try flexing your buttock muscles as well. In fact there are many muscles in our body that we can twitch and flex without inviting the attention of others. Even if others do notice you, it’s no big deal provided you are flexing a muscle in a decent part of the body. (Most of the other parts do not have muscles any way.) Others might brand you as a health freak but it is miles better to be known as a heath freak than as a sack of potatoes.

If there is a pool nearby go for swims as often as you can, swimming is one of the best exercises. Water has a lot of advantages. And if nothing else, a cool dip in a pool is a wonderful stress reliever.

Here’s a pop quiz. Escalators help us to: 1.Move up and down faster 2. Gain weight 3. Stand stupidly as they move up and down 4 Look down at other people when you are going down 5. Look up to others when we are going up you have to pick the correct answer from the 5 alternatives given. You can see for your self that all the options are in a way correct. So the next time you travel on an escalator, don’t just stand there…climb up or down along with it. (Or better yet, take the stairs.)
