Why is strength training so important when it comes to weight loss? I understand the importance of Cardio, which I do a lot of, but I often fall short in the area of strength training. Why is it so important?
strength training builds healthy bone and muscle. you need muscle to burn fat. muscle gives you a better looking body and it lets you burn more calories, so you can eat more food and still lose weight or stay the same. References :

The whole point in doing weight training while you’re dieting is to ensure the weight you lose is fat and not healthy bodyweight such as muscle (your heart being one of them), you internal organs and connective tissue. Weight training maintains your LBM. (Lean body mass)
It’s also important to eat plenty of protein while dieting for the same reason.
Weight training also has the benefit if the EPOC effect, which means that you carry on burning calories hours after you’ve finished exercising — sometimes up to 24 hours. You don’t get this from cardio.
