New research published on the web in the Journal of the American Medical Association compared exercise combined with diet versus diet only. Here&#8217;s what researchers discovered&#8230; At six months, people in the diet-and-exercise group lost an average of 24 pounds and had better reduction in belly fat and liver fat than those in the delayed-exercise group, who lost an average of 18 pounds.</p>
<p>After a year, people in the diet-and-exercise group lost 27 pounds compared to 22 pounds in the delayed-exercise group. &#8220;Research shows that traditional diet-and-exercise program can work for people who are very obese,&#8221; says lead author, Bret Goodpaster, an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. Most participants in the study lost between 30-40 pounds&#8230; but a handful lost nearly 100.</p>
<p>According to a study&#8217;s authors: &#8220;We would love to say that physical activity has a positive effect on weight control, but that does not appear to be the case.&#8221; Recently, a study published in the September 2008 Journal of Obesity raised a few eyebrows. The study contrasted diet versus exercise for weight loss and concluded that, even though exercise may be good for strengthening bones and muscles, improved mental health and mood, lowering blood pressure, improved cholesterol levels and reduced the risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, breast cancer and colon cancer&#8230; it may not be the best thing for weight loss.</p>

<p>2. Beans: This is probably one of the best foods you can eat to control your weight. And beans have both soluble and insoluble fiber which means they pack a powerful cholesterol-lowering punch. Just make sure you incorporate them into your diet slowly as they have lots of fiber.</p>

<p>Skipping breakfast all because you are going to be late for work. Most of the time, people tend to jump inside the cars and go to work and forget about taking breakfast. <p>Not too long ago some chemists discovered a way to extend the freshness of cooking oils. Their novel method was called hydrogenation. If only they knew what would come in the years to follow with their trans fatty acids.</p>
<p>And they became the number one nutrient responsible for the largest amount of deaths in U.S. history.</p>
<p>The bottom line is that trans fatty acids alter your metabolic process so much that obtaining slim arms becomes a pipe dream. It really doesn&#8217;t matter how hard you train, except if you&#8217;re an Olympic athlete.</p>
<p>So just how bad are trans fats? Well, check out the following list:</p>
<p><b>1. The lowest estimate from Harvard predicts 30,000 annual deaths.</b> That is a lot of death from a single nutrient. The U.S. population, and the rest of the world, has never dealt with such a common yet lethal killer.</p>
<p><b>2. There is NO safe limit.</b> The food industry would have you believe that around 40 calories of trans fatty acids per day will do no harm. Yet the most elite academic institutions recommend zero intake. Also, many states are in the process of banning trans fats.</p>
<p><b>3. They increase triglyceride levels.</b> Triglycerides are the storage form of arm fat within your body. Do you think increasing their level will help you get thin and slim arms, absolutely not!</p>
<p><b>4. They increase the worst type of LDL.</b> Not all cholesterol is created equal. And trans fatty acids increase the worst kind: dense LDL particles. So if you want slim arms please stay away from the Franken fat.</p>
<p>I believe that it has become very popular to use scare tactics for commercial purposes. We live in a society of fear which promotes feverish consumer spending. I do not want to scare you with this article. I simply want you to be informed! After all, in this day and age it&#8217;s virtually impossible to eliminate every single toxin from your diet. Nevertheless, staying away from trans fat will really boost your slim arms mission.</p>
